O'Cuiv resigns over EU treaty vote
Eamon O Cuív has resigned as Fianna Fáil's deputy leader and communications spokesperson because of his refusal to support a yes vote on the EU fiscal compact.
Eamon O Cuív has resigned as Fianna Fáil's deputy leader and communications spokesperson because of his refusal to support a yes vote on the EU fiscal compact.
Party leader Micheal Martin issued a statement saying that he had accepted O Cuív's resignation.
He said: "Eamon's refusal to support the Parliamentary Party's position on the Fiscal Compact meant that it was no longer feasible for him to occupy these roles."
