The Occupy Dame Street camp outside Dublin's Central Bank was removed by gardai in the early hours of this morning.

RTE said that up to 100 gardai and officials from Dublin Corporation were involved in the operation, which got underway at about 3.30 am.

Protesters had been camping at the site since last October in solidarity with the Occupy Wall Street demonstration in New York which was closed down in November.
