Tycoon Denis O'Brien is continuing his drive into geo-political hotspots, with his mobile phone firm Digicel reportedly eyeing an expansion into the Libyan market.

Tycoon Denis O'Brien is continuing his drive into geo-political hotspots, with his mobile phone company Digicel reportedly eyeing an expansion into the Libyan market.

Digicel is reportedly one of a number of major international telecoms firms, including Vodafone, vying for contracts to run two state-owned telecoms firms in Libya.

The deadline for tenders for the licence expires at the end of this week. Two firms will be selected to manage the state-owned networks shortly afterwards.
