Whatever his other problems, Barack Obama can take comfort from the fact that at least two of his decisions will continue to resonate beyond his presidency.

The first was made last summer, when he appointed Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court, the first HispanicAmerican appointee. The second such decision will come within weeks, when Obama will nominate another new justice to the nine-member court.
