O2 growth to slow as market saturates

Growth at O2, which is expected to report a 15 per cent increase in annual revenues this week, will slow this year as the British mobile phone market reaches saturation.

Growth at O2, which is expected to report a 15 per cent increase in annual revenues this week, will slow this year as the British mobile phone market reaches saturation.

In Ireland, O2 has 1.5 million subscribers and commands 40 per cent of the mobile market. It also employs 1,500 people of its 8,400 staff worldwide here.

The company is expected to announce revenues of stg£6.4 billion (€9.45 billion), compared with stg£5.6 billion last year.
