With shrinking revenues and no clear plan on how to cash in on data, how can an Irish operator make money these days?

One way, said O2’s new Irish boss, Stephen Shurrock, is to look at revenue streams outside of its voice, text and browsing businesses.

‘‘I see the phone, increasingly, as being a replacement for the wallet,” said Shurrock, who has spent the last decade managing sales divisions in O2’s British network....
