Nursing home shortfall as 2,000 wait
There is a national shortage of nursing homes despite planning permissions and land being available, writes Donal Buckley.
Development of new nursing homes is slowing to a trickle despite the number of elderly people on waiting lists for beds increasing to more than 2,000, according to figures released this week. Equally surprising is that this shortage is occurring despite numerous sites being available around the country with planning permission for nursing homes.
