The number of students staying in school to complete their second level education is at its highest rate ever at more than 90 per cent, a government report has found.

County Kilkenny has the highest retention rate in the country at 94.17 per cent.

The number of students staying in school to complete their second level education is at its highest rate ever at more than 90 per cent, a government report has found.

The Minister for Education and Skills, Ruairí Quinn said he was heartened by the results of the report, which also showed the percentage of students who sit the Leaving Cert has risen by almost 9 per cent to 90.2 per cent in 11 years.
