Number of qualifying solicitors has doubled over the last decade

The number of people qualifying as solicitors in Ireland has more than doubled in the past ten years, to nearly 650 people a year.

The number of people qualifying as solicitors in Ireland has more than doubled in the past ten years, to nearly 650 people a year.

This year is likely to be a record year for the number of new solicitors, with 547 qualifying in the year to date. Figures from the Law Society show that 648 solicitors qualified last year, compared with 314 in 1998. In 1988, only 169 people qualified as solicitors.
