Number of people using moneylenders up 20%

More than half the customers of moneylenders own their own home, writes Emma Kennedy.

A new report on the licensed moneylending sector has revealed that while consumers seem satisfied with the service they receive from moneylenders, regulators have a number of concerns about the sector.

The new Central Bank report on the licensed moneylending industry follows on from a similar piece of research in 2007. The number of people using moneylenders has jumped by 20 per cent in the interim, up from about 300,000 in 2005 to about 360,000...
