Number of new licensed cars up 50% in July

The number of new private cars licensed for the first time in July increased 50.8 per cent to 14,037 compared to 9,306 July 2013, new figures from the Central Statistics Office have shown.

The number of new private cars licensed for the first time in July increased 50.8 per cent to 14,037 compared to 9,306 July 2013, new figures from the Central Statistics Office have shown.

Used (imported) private cars licensed for the first time were up 6.4 per cent to 4.879 for the same period.

In total, there were 76,317 new private cars licensed in the first six months of the year, a 29.8 per cent rise compared to the first half of 2013.
