Number of new cars licensed jumps by a third - CSO

The number of new private cars licensed for the first time increased by 34.4 per cent to 4,376 in September 2014 compared to September 2013, according to the CSO.

The number of new private cars licensed for the first time increased by 34.4 per cent to 4,376 in September 2014 compared to September 2013, according to the CSO.

In total, there were 86,894 new private cars licensed in the year to the end of September 2014, a rise of 30.5 per cent compared to the same period in 2013.

The number of used (imported) private cars was 41,134 and this was up 9.9 per cent from 2013. But used imported private cars...
