Number of mortgages in arrears rises close to 11%

10.9 per cent of private residential mortgage accounts are in arrears over 90 days, according to new figures from the Central Bank.

10.9 per cent of private residential mortgage accounts are in arrears over 90 days, according to new figures from the Central Bank.

The total of 83,251 accounts in arrears is up from 77,630 accounts (10.2 per cent) at the end of March 2012. At the end of June there were 761,533 private residential mortgage accounts for principal dwellings held in Ireland, to a value of €112 billion, the Central Bank said.

The figures also show that 45,165 mortgage accounts are in arrears...
