It was all a lot simpler when infrastructure group NTR was just a toll road operator.

There was little to concern investors who disliked uncertainty, as the group confined itself to the relatively straightforward business of building toll bridges and charging vehicles to use them.

Last week’s interim results, however, underlined how the group’s impressive growth had come at the expense of its predictability.
