Fine Gael’s Michael Noonan last night warned that dealing with independents in the new Dáil could lead to instability in government.

Noonan was elected on the first count in Limerick city with almost 13,300 votes. However, Fianna Fáil’s Willie O’Dea’s vote tumbled from 19,000 votes in 2007 to just 6,956.
