Noonan rules out mortgage interest relief extension

UPDATE: Finance Minister Michael Noonan has again ruled out extending the mortgage interest relief for house buyers beyond this year.

Finance Minister Michael Noonan has again ruled out extending the mortgage interest relief for house buyers beyond this year.

The measure gives first time buyers mortgage interest relief at 25 per cent and others 15 per cent relief. The finance minister was speaking to reporters earlier today.

There have been calls in recent weeks from the property sector for an extension to the scheme.
