Noonan: Europe owes Ireland

Ireland will probably need a “serious” sale of long-term debt in the first half of the year, most likely 10-year bonds, finance minister Michael Noonan said at an event in London today.

Europe owes Ireland, finance minister Michael Noonan has said at a conference in London. Noonan added that he feels there is a “lot of goodwill” towards the country in Europe.

Noonan said at the event, which was hosted by Blooomberg, that the bailout of Irish banks had been taken in part at the direction of the ECB to prevent contagion and Ireland has a “very strong case” for ESM Intervention.
