UPDATE: the editor of the Irish Independent’s online edition, Nóirín Hegarty, has left the newspaper group, The Daily Business Post has learned.

The editor of the Irish Independent’s online edition, Nóirín Hegarty, has left the newspaper group, The Daily Business Post has learned.

The former Sunday Tribune editor departed Independent News & Media (INM) on “mutually amicable terms”, a spokesman for the company said.

Hegarty had been tipped by some as the next editor of the Irish Independent.
