No plans to publish doctors' individual mortality rates

The Health Service Executive and the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland said that "no decision" had been taken on publishing individual mortality rates.

Dr James Reilly said earlier this month that the health service would publish the details of `individual consultants' waiting lists, morbidity and mortality figures'.

The Health Service Executive and the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland have undermined the Minister for Health's claim that the system was gearing up to enable patients to check the death and disease rate among those treated by specific hospital consultants.

Earlier this month, Minister for Health Dr James Reilly said the health service would publish the details of "individual consultants' waiting lists, morbidity and mortality figures".
