No new measures against bird flu

Ireland will not be introducing any further control measures to prevent an outbreak of avian flu in Ireland, despite confirmation of a case of bird flu in a swan in Scotland.

The Minister for Agriculture and Food, Mary Coughlan, said on Friday that, based on her department’s risk analysis and the opinion expressed by the government-appointed Avian Influenza Expert Advisory group, no new measures were needed.
