The education system has become an adjunct of the Celtic Tiger. It is hardly interested any more in providing a broad education. It is largely uninterested in introducing an appreciation of culture, languages, music and art to most Irish students. It leaves the majority unilingual, aside from a smattering of Irish.
We will soon be a nation of wealthy ignoramuses. Yes, I know it should be ignorami, but let’s go with the flow.
