No country for vulnerable women

We must bite the bullet of repealing the Eighth Amendment, freeing the Oireachtas to deal with abortion, writes Dr Peter Boylan.

Our Constitution discriminates against the most disadvantaged women in our country. We should be ashamed of this.

The latest scandal regarding the treatment of women in this state raises a number of troubling issues. The young woman in question is an asylum seeker and was a victim of rape. Her experience has provided a stark illustration of how termination of pregnancy is dealt with in Ireland today.
