Willie Walsh has come full circle in recent weeks. Back in 1998, Aer Lingus sent a young ambitious pilot to head its struggling Spanish charter outfit, Futura.

Once again, Walsh is firmly focused on Spain. This time the Dubliner, now chief executive of IAG, the third-biggest airline group in the world, is attempting to revitalise legacy national carrier Iberia.
