Payzone, the Dublin-based electronic payments firm, has endured a rocky few years. After a period of rapid expansion, the highlight of which was its precursor firm Alphyra mounting a reverse takeover of AIM-listed Cardpoint in 2007 to become Payzone, everything started to go wrong.
Investors in the firm became unhappy and in 2008 a fractious boardroom battle saw them oust the firm's founder and chief executive, John Nagle.
