New transport agency for Dublin
Martin Cullen, Minister for Transport, is expected to announce the structure of a new Dublin transport agency within two weeks.
Cullen is also likely to publish a report outlining the recommendations of a high-powered steering group under the remit of the new Dublin Transport Authority (DTA).
The DTA will have responsibility for the integrated transport plan envisaged under the government’s €34 billion Transport 21 project.
The new body will have overall responsibility for public transport services on mainline rail, light rail, the new Metro North, Dublin Bus and private coach services across the capital.
