A major crackdown on fuel laundering from October will make it mandatory for traders to produce a new licence to buy 'green diesel' at ports and file electronic monthly returns to the Revenue.
The legislative provisions in the Finance Act 2012 will take effect from October 1 in a move to tackle fuel laundering and the smuggling of agricultural diesel, which is costing the economy an estimated €155 million yearly.
