Self-regulation by auctioneers and estate agents will end under radical proposals expected to be approved by the government in the coming weeks, The Sunday Business Post has learned.

A new regulatory body, appointed by the government but funded by the industry, will supervise the profession and will have powers of licensing and monitoring over estate agents, auctioneers and letting agents.
