New Mater will cost double original estimate at €500m

The new Mater Hospital in Dublin will cost more than €500 million, twice the original estimate, according to senior officials familiar with the plans.

The project to join the Mater Hospital and Temple Street Children's Hospital on a single site was originally approved in 1999 at a cost of €250 million. By 2001, the estimate had risen to €350million.
