Cork-based photonics company Firecomms received a €7 million funding injection from its Chinese owners last year.

New company filings indicate that the company received the new funding from its parent company, Zhejiang Firecomms Communications, which is owned by ZJF group, which acquired Firecomms in 2010.

The funding came after Firecomms endured further losses. Newly filed accounts reported that the firm incurred a net loss of €2.4 million in the year ending December 31 2011.
