New import/export rules are announced

New EU rules aimed at forcing companies involved in importing and exporting to obtain additional clearance from the Revenue Commissioners will take effect from next January.

New EU rules aimed at forcing companies involved in importing and exporting to obtain additional clearance from the Revenue Commissioners will take effect from next January.

The rules will apply to most manufacturing businesses, logistics firms, warehouses and distributors.

They will require them to provide evidence that they have taken steps to ensure compliance with EU customs laws, as well as ensuring safe and secure supply of products to their clients.
