New export credit scheme being devised by the state

The government is considering launching a state-backed credit insurance scheme for the first time since the abuse of similar schemes culminated in the Beef Tribunal of the 1990s.

Sources close to the process said that the Departments of Finance and Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation hope to attract private sector backing for the roll-out of a state-guaranteed export insurance product during 2015.
