New efforts to safeguard IBRC mortgage holders

Advocacy group signs deal with two bidders on protections.

The liquidators of the Irish Bank Resolution Corporation (IBRC) are coming under mounting pressure to force any vulture fund seeking to buy its mortgage portfolios to provide iron-clad assurances that they will comply with existing consumer protection codes.

With public pressure increasing, the authorities are engaged in last-ditch efforts to ensure that 13,000 mortgage holders will not lose valuable consumer protection when their loans are auctioned in the coming weeks by the IBRC liquidators.
