A state-of-the-art private hospital will be built in Drogheda in Co Louth to cater for the north-east of the country.

The Health Service Executive (HSE) is examining two proposals that have also been presented to Drogheda Borough Council. One of the proposals is for a €500million 600-bed hospital that would be built in the car park of the existing Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.
