The number of new cars licensed for the first time in September rose by 35 per cent to 5,924 while the number of new goods vehicles licensed was up by 13 per cent, the CSO said

The number of new cars licensed for the first time in September rose by 35 per cent to 5,924 while the number of new goods vehicles licensed was up by 13.2 per cent to 1,681, the Central Statistics Office said.

A total of 114,446 new private cars were licensed in the first nine months of the year, a rise of 31.7 per cent compared to the same period last year.
