Media curation firm Newswhip operates out of two offices, in Dublin and New York, and analyses 500,000 stories every day. The firm, however, started out with rather different aims in mind.

Originally it was an attempt at an Irish hybrid of the Huffington Post and Gawker, but the market size made founder Paul Quigley wary of creating that business. Instead Newswhip developed into a tool that was built more around curation.
