Bertie Ahern faces fresh embarrassment from the fact that the biggest payment he received from the 1993 Christmas whip-around was drawn on a cheque or a draft from NCB Stockbrokers.

Ahern said last week that one of the individuals to give him money was his friend Padraic O’Connor, managing director of NCB. It has now emerged that O’Connor gave Ahern £5,000 on a company cheque or draft which would have gone through NCB’s books....
