Pre-tax profits at Nature's Best, the health-food operation controlled by businessman Paddy Callaghan, jumped by more than 80 per cent last year, despite a slight dip in turnover.

The company made a pre-tax profit of €744,000 on sales of €25.4 million in 2004, according to accounts just filed.

This compares with a turnover of €26.8 million and pre-tax profits of €405,000 in 2003.
