The National Lottery created 23 new millionaires last year and raised €205.9 million for good causes, its annual report said.

This brought the overall level of funds raised since the lottery's launch to €4.4 billion.

Players shared winnings of €382.7 million, representing 56 per cent of sales of €685.2 million although this was down nearly seven per cent from 2012.
