Multinational employment figures back to 1998 levels

The number of people employed in IDA-backed multinational firms has fallen to its lowest level since 1998, according to new figures.

The number of people employed in IDA-backed multinational firms has fallen to its lowest level since 1998, according to new figures.

At the end of last year, 139,457 people were working in full-time employment for IDA-backed firms, down 15,176 on the previous year.

The Forfás Employment Survey for 2009 also shows there were almost 27,000 fewer people working for these multinational firms at the end of last year than in 2000.
