Fine Gael’s Michelle Mulherin became the first person elected to Mayo County Council yesterday, topping the poll and exceeding the quota in the Ballina local electoral area in the first count. She was quickly followed by party colleague Henry Kenny in Castlebar and Independent Michael Kilcoyne.
