British retail chain Marks & Spencer has reported a 0.8 per cent rise in group sales in the 13 weeks to March 31, saying it had made "continued progress in a challenging market".
Its performance missed industry estimates as British general merchandise sales dropped by 2.8 per cent.
In British outlets, clothing sales fell 0.3 per cent while food sales rose 3.1 per cent.
