The government has approved the drafting of a bill that will pave the way for the merger of the newly independent Shannon Airport with the extensive property holdings of Shannon Development.

Transport minister Leo Varadkar said that the approval of the Shannon Aviation Services and Miscellaneous Provisions Bill 2013 marked a significant milestone in the restructuring of the State’s assets in Shannon.
