The Minister for Justice, Michael McDowell, is facing increased problems with his plans for a prison at Thornton Hall in north Dublin this weekend, amid claims that the government will have difficulties in selling off Mountjoy Prison as originally planned.

Plans to demolish and sell off Mountjoy - which is to be replaced by the facility at Thornton Hall - are understood to be in doubt under the terms of a five-year development plan signed...
