Work will begin shortly on a €7.2 million refurbishment and conservation project at Mount Stewart House and Gardens in Co Down.

The Grade A listed property is owned by the British National Trust and has been virtually untouched since the 1950s, when it was decorated by its late owner, Lady Edith of Londonderry. She was also responsible for planting the gardens, which were regarded as among the best in the country in the 1920s.
