The banking sector is showing signs of preparing for huge mortgage losses this year, but regulators are still piling on the pressure, writes Joh Ihle, Markets Correspondent.

Banks are going to experience higher mortgage losses this year.

The rest of 2012 is going to be marked by higher mortgage losses in the Irish covered banks as the regulators move to standardise impairment recognition and push lenders to make early and aggressive provision for all expected losses on home loans.
