Mortgage lending down over 50 per cent since last year

The volume of new mortgage lending in Ireland in the third quarter fell over 50 per cent by volume on the same period last year the previous year.

The volume of new mortgage lending in Ireland in the third quarter fell over 50 per cent by volume on the same period last year the previous year and was up 1.6 per cent on the preceding quarter.

3,607 new mortgages to the value of €623 million were issued during the third quarter of 2011, according to the Irish Banking Federation (IBF)/PwC mortgage market profile.
