Mortgage approvals at highest level in three years, IBF says

More than 2,000 home mortgages were issued per month in the second quarter of the year, new figures from the Irish Banking Federation have shown.

More than 2,000 home mortgages were issued per month in the second quarter of the year, new figures from the Irish Banking Federation have shown.

The figures mark the highest level of approval since 2011 when the Banking Federation began covering the period.

On average, 2,268 mortgages were approved per month, of which 2,102 were for home purchases, with the remainder being top-up mortgages.
