Morgan Stanley beats estimates as revenue rises

Morgan Stanley has reported an 87 per cent increase in third-quarter earnings, beating analysts’ estimates.

Morgan Stanley has reported an 87 per cent increase in third-quarter earnings, beating analysts’ estimates.

Net income for the third-quarter rose to $1.7 billion or 84 cents per share, up from $906 million or 45 cents at the same time last year.

Excluding an accounting adjustment and a tax benefit, earnings were 65 cents a share, topping the 54-cent average estimate of 23 analysts surveyed by Bloomberg.
