More young people out of work, says Youth Council

The number of young people at work is down almost 10 per cent, the National Youth Council said today.

Although the latest data has shown a small increase in employment levels, the number of young people at work is down almost 10 per cent, the National Youth Council said today.

Nearly half of young people on the live register have been there for 12 months on more, the group said.

James Doorley, NYCI deputy director, said: “CSO figures released today indicate that employment increased by 0.1 per cent in 2012.
