A major security operation was mounted in Belfast this weekend after clashes between loyalists and police, which resulted in up to ten officers being injured, and a dozen arrests last Friday night.
Traders in the city were concerned Christmas business would be badly affected over a traditionally busy weekend, because of protests planned in the city centre yesterday over new restrictions on flying the union flag.
